Who can join or start a CPI Chapter?
Our university chapters seek Associates who are both enrolled and not enrolled at the universities we serve, including young and later-career professionals in any field as well as those at earlier stages of professional development. Building a diversity of age and experience is part of what bolsters creativity in the forming new Kentucky-centric solutions and certifying new policy Fellows in the process. We are seeking PhD, postgraduate level students, and citizens with interest near university campuses, who hold research and/or practical policy experience. We also welcome promising undergraduates and members of all ages driven to build solutions with CPI.
To become an Associate, applicants must direct an application above to one our university chapters or the CPI Advisory Board. In the absence of a chapter, applicants can file a request to work with a CPI member principal who will work with you to charter one on the Kentucky university campus most local to your address. All CPI university chapters must maintain 50% of membership enrolled on the campus of the chapter. Chapters are an unincorporated sub-component of the Commonwealth Policy Institute, Ltd with charters filed under and provided by CPI. Chapters are joined by an advisory board liaison, local member-elected Chapter Officers serve on CPI's board and serve chapter operations which is a leadership component linked to Fellow certification.
CPI welcomes you to apply to our advised University Chapters as an Associate. Those who surpass fellow certification as an Associate Fellow, and complete certification as a Fellow, hold a standing invitation to continue serving CPI by joining our members principal as a Fellow Principal.
Looking to join as a Member Principal?
This page is for new Associate intake, not for those at an advanced career stage in law, policy, and/or research seeking to join as a member principal. If you are a promising early or late career policy or research professional, instead looking to support our mission (pro-bono at this stage) and connect research to engaged solutions through the process -- then contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are in the process of directly recruiting members principal and welcome your interest.
